WNANA.

We lazy-ass bloggers need a new acronym. Take yesterday’s post, for example.

A little bit like that scene towards the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey, where HAL the super-computer regresses to infancy and starts playing Tic-Tac-Toe. (Or was that War Games? Sci-fi isn’t exactly my home turf.)

I’ve used it once before, and I’m going to start using it again:

CBATG.

Pronounced see-bat-gee. Pass it on.

Update: To push the concept, I’ve added a bit of soft-soap hard-sell copy-writing blurb to the explanation page.

CBATG: Can’t Be Arsed To Google.

Are you a lazy-ass blogger, with no time and/or inclination to check your facts prior to hitting “Publish”?

I mean, what is this, journalism or something? Yawnsville City!

As bloggers, we all know that stopping to look things up every five minutes can fatally disrupt our all-important Creative Flow.

Besides, what’s more important: emotional authenticity, or tedious pedantry?

Well, quite.

In which case, CBATG (pronounced see-bat-gee) is the acronym for you.

Dude, it was just like that bit at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey, where HAL goes back to childhood and starts playing Tic-Tac-Toe.

Or was that War Games? CBATG.

Yes: just one application per paragraph can grant total absolution from all of your so-called “sins of omission”.

So pass it on. And help make the blogosphere a safe haven for those of us who really couldn’t give a flying f**k about the minutiae of life.
